ADVICES FOR PLANTATION OF GRAPEVINE GRAFTS
|
Befor we plant the grapevine grafts into the ground, the roots should be cut to 8-10 cm.
We plant the grafts from March to April, in area of Koper already from Februar in a well prepared and suitable damped soil.
The planting hole should be 40 x 40 cm wide and 35 cm deep. At the bottom of this hole we form a planting cone with
some good soil. Than we put into this planting cone the top of the grapevine graft. Roots of the graft should be ordered around equably.
By forming the planting cone we have to be very careful. The grafted place shoul be 5 to 8 cm above surface of the earth.
We have to cover the roots with some soil of good quality and press down strong. Than we add 1 or 2 litres of Biopost or Humovit.
If we plant grapevine grafts later into dry soil, it is recommendable to water them.

ADVICES FOR BETTER GROWTH IN THE FIRST YEAR AFTER PLANTING
|
INTO CLAYEY SOIL
The second part of April is the best time for planting, when the ground is warm and wet enough.
Our recommendation is to plant the grapevine grafts into the furrow, because they come in this way into light and humid soil.
We do not recommend planting with water spray gun or that the planting hole would be made with a boring machine,
because in this case we do not plant the grafts deep enough.
DURING THE YEAR
is very important to protect of grapevine grafts against the illnesses like Peronospora and Oidij. In last years
Peronospora made a lot of damage, specially in September during the vintage. The conditions for its growth are in this time the best.
Our mistake is, that we forget, how important it is to sprinkle the young plants against illnesses also in autumn.
Peronospora has in September different symptoms as in summer. Oil stains on the right side of leafs disappear,
but on the back side of leafs break a white cover out. Those leaves drop in one week out and there is a high possibility,
that the grapevine graft will not spring up.
IN THE FIRST YEAR
After planting the grapevine grafts should be dressed as late as possible, this is at the end of February or in the beginning of March.
